<title>Wind Generators</title>
<description>wind generators? I understand that if you have a wind generator it will automatically shut down in case of a power failure to prevent electrical shock to the power company repairmen.Does this mean if there is a huricane and the power was off for weeks you would not be able to use the generator to power your house during this time?

<title>Wind Farm</title>
<description>How long does it take a wind farm to pay back its carbon footprint? Constructing a wind farm must make a huge carbon emmissions footprint if you include every part of its Development,Manufacture,Construction and Maintenance.

Do they have the lifespan to ever get into a positive balance?

Would it be more efficient to give away low energy lightbulbs to every household and business&#039;s to reduce emmissions and consumption?

<title>Wind Energy Stocks</title>
<description>What are some wind energy stocks? I know GE has a hand in the wind energy sector, but what are some public traded companies that wind energy is their main focus? I know that there is a Brazilian company called Tecsis, that I see their turbine blades on trucks headed somewhere all the time.

<title>Sustainable Energy Solutions</title>
<description>What is the downside to providing real, sustainable alternative energy solutions? Using the same money we currently use for subsidizing and protecting the oil companies? I&#039;m not simply refering to ethanol. I&#039;m talking about things like localized solar, wind, geothermal, hot rock energy, etc.
GCB, that is simply not true. Hot Rock Energy is currently being utilized in the Phillipenes. It is also being pursued in Germany, Switzerland, Japan and Australia. We have the equipment to do it NOW. It uses the same equipment that is needed to drill for oil. It is self-sustaining once started. It has no pollutants. If a plant is destroyed by attack, earthquake, or whatever, it is quite simple to drill a new well and continue on. No by-products to store. The only thing that seems to bestopping us is there isn&#039;t a billion dollars to be made off of it.

Pied Hussein Piper, I&#039;ve never seen you add anything relevant to any discussion out of the dozens of answers I have seen you provide. Don&#039;t ask for my &quot;proof&quot; when you have made up your mind. Take a break from your bashing for about five minutes and go learn something.
And to the Libs_ person, we&#039;ve been over this. Do your homework. There are alternative materials for virtually everything you list. Also, nobody is talking about stopping oil production completely. We&#039;re talking about competitiveness in the energy industry and getting off our reliance o foreign oil. The vast majority of oil is used simply for gasoline, not making carpet. Hell, we make carpet from recycled pop bottles, wool, soy, etc.

Joe, that&#039;s a valid point and you are more than likely correct, but wouldn&#039;t you rather the fraud be at home, rather than in the hands of foreign interests? Better we be serving corporate interests in America, rather than coprorate interests in addition to foreign policy debacles involving the lost lives of millions and constant goverment interventions.

<title>Standard Renewable Energy</title>
<description>Where in the world is there undergraduate degrees in renewable energy and/or sustainability? I&#039;ve already found a few, such as the University of New South Wales - Photovoltaic/solar energy degree. However, I would like to fully know all my options for undergraduate degrees in solar energy/wind energy/renewable energy etc. Most other programs I&#039;ve found have been standard engineering degrees, which lead to graduate work in the subject. Any university in the world is the scope, as I&#039;m not committed to residing with the United States.

<title>Sources Of Renewable Energy</title>
<description>How could renewable energy sources be used to meet a household&#039;s needs? Consider the following issues:

What renewable sources of energy are available?

Which sources could be used to supply a household&#039;s needs? How could each source be used?

Where would the home have to be located to use each source?

What equipment would be needed? Where would this equipment be located?

What backup systems should be included?

For all you smart people out there, please answer all of these questions!

<title>Solar Power</title>
<description>Solar power? We are looking at buying a house and renovating it, and were wondering about using solar or wind power to power much of our house. We will have a well, be on a septic system, have a wood burning furnace for heating the house, so we would like to have solar or wind power so we can use as little electricity as possible (its insanely expensive here!). We also have our appliances (fridge, stove, washer, dryer, freezer).
How much would a basic set up be for a 900 sq ft, 3 bedroom house? For either wind turbines or solar panels and necessary equipment? I am in Southern Ontario.

Thanks!
